FC Cologne sporting director Jorg Schmadtke has said there have been no enquiries for their star striker Anthony Modeste. The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with West Ham named as one of a number of English clubs tracking the 29 year old.

In an interview with Bild, Schmadtke said he has heard about the rumours and he is bracing himself for anything when the summer transfer window comes around:

“I do not follow who is watching Tony at our games. So far, there are rumours. And there are neither enquiries nor offers available. I also have no expectation in any direction. If anything comes, we will react.”

Bild report that there are English and French clubs leading the chase for Modeste, who has scored 25 goals in all competitions so far this season. It seems like West Ham will have to pay a significant amount to land the forward though. Cologne are reportedly looking for as much as €40million (£33.6m) for Modeste.

For a 29 year old, the fee may put off many clubs, and it seems likely a bid from the Chinese Super League will also be on the cards. Cologne vice president Toni Schumacher revealed back in February the club had rejected bids of €40m and €50m from China.
