Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong has reacted to talk that a move to West Ham could be on the cards. US TV host James Corden, also a Hammers fan, tweeted last week that West Ham should sign up the Scottish international.

The 25 year old reacted to the story by stating he is happy to remain at Celtic Park. He is quoted by the Daily Express as saying:

“It’s always nice to see these things. There was a little bit of humour from the boys about it! We are looking at my contract. I am really happy here and playing some of the best football of my life.”

When asked about possibly moving to the Premier League though he was slightly more coy:

“In the past, I would have maybe dwelled on things and thought too much about different aspects of the game. Now it is about taking each one at a time and living in the moment. The future takes care of itself. I tend to focus on being here and being a Celtic player, which I am.”

Armstrong has indeed had an excellent season in the Scottish Premiership. After being a bit part player under previous manager Ronny Deila last season, the midfielder has excelled under Brendan Rodgers this campaign.

In 39 games in all competitions so far this season, Armstrong has scored 13 times and provided seven assists. His form was rewarded with his first senior cap for Scotland at the end of last month. He started the 1-0 victory over Slovenia in the World Cup qualifier, playing the full 90 minutes for Gordon Strachan’s side.
