West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady has shut down rumours that the Hammers are poised to sack Slaven Bilic after numerous reports linking the club with other managers.

Writing in her column for the Sun newspaper, Brady told journalists to “shut up” about speculation surrounding the Croatian’s future, although she then goes on say that the board expect Bilic to ensure improvements are made both defensively and offensively. She writes that they want “exciting” football to return to West Ham’s style of play:

“When we part company with a manager, it is for what we believe are good reasons. Yes, we have had some defensive problems, but I’m sure he’ll deal with those. Our move to the London Stadium was always going to be testing for the players.”

“And if Slaven is the boss we believe him to be, he’ll soon bring back the exciting style he brought to West Ham when we appointed him at the start of last season.”

Strange as it may seem, Bilic’s side have only scored six fewer goals compared to the same stage last season. After 30 games, the Hammers were in fifth on 50 points, scoring 47 and conceding 35. This season, they have scored 41 but conceded 54, 19 more goals against than last campaign.

It has meant that West Ham sit 14th on 33 points and pressure is now mounting on the West Ham boss to avert a slide back towards the relegation places after four consecutive losses which sees them only six points off the drop zone.
