West Ham winger Michail Antonio believes that the Hammers need to strengthen at right back, at centre back and up front to make sure they are fighting for places at the right end of the table next season.

The 27 year old will miss the rest of the campaign with a hamstring injury but in an interview with ESPN FC, the midfielder said he doesn’t believe the club are far off competing for at least a Europa League spotĀ if the right signings are made:

“We need to sign a couple of players — a right-back, one more centre-half, two strikers — and get more goals. If we can do that, we will be up there for European places.”

Antonio also revealed in the interview that he should be able to make his return in July in time for pre-season training. The Hammers will no doubt miss the winger’s influence on matches for the final four games of the season.

The former Nottingham Forest player is the club’s top goalscorer with nine goals this campaign, and he was certainly missed at the weekend when West Ham failed to break the deadlock in the 0-0 home draw against Everton.
