West Ham striker Diafra Sakho could still play for the Hammers this season, according to the Mirror.

The club’s head doctor Stijn Vandenbroucke revealed yesterday that the Senegalese international could take up to “four to five weeks” to return to full training, making it touch and go whether he would be back before the last Premier League match against Burnley on 21st May.

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic told the Evening Standard last week that the player was close to making a return, and the Mirror report he could be back in full training with the West Ham squad in two weeks time.

They say the 27 year old is being eased back to full fitness and is currently working hard with the Under 23 side. If all goes well he could return in the middle of next month to play Sunderland on April 15th.

Sakho has only managed to play two matches this season due to his problematic back injury, and had to have more surgery when he broke down after scoring against Manchester United in the 1-1 draw back in November
