Manchester City right back Bacary Sagna will be allowed to leave the Etihad Stadium in the summer, according to calciomercato.com.

The Frenchman’s contract expires at the end of the season, and the Italian website report that the 34 year old will not be offered a new deal as he doesn’t figure in City manager Pep Guardiola’s future plans.

Sagna has been heavily linked with a move to West Ham over the past few months, but the Hammers will face competition from Ligue One side Marseille to sign him on a free transfer.

The former Arsenal defender joined City from the Gunners in 2014 and has 85 appearances in all competitions for the club. The Hammers have been on the look out for a right back since last summer and it has proven to be a problem position for manager Slaven Bilic.

Sagna has 65 caps for France, and his experience in the backline would no doubt come in useful for West Ham next season.
