Torino have announced that centre back Kevin Bonifazi has signed a new five year contract to remain at the Italian club.

The 20 year old had been linked with a move to West Ham in the Italian media but his new deal means he will now stay until 2022. The defender is currently starring on loan at SPAL who top the Serie B table.

In 31 matches in the league, SPAL have conceded only 29 times, and are two points ahead of Frosinone in second place. Bonifazi has played 16 of those matches, and although he spent the first half of the season out of the team, he has only missed one match since making his first start against Latina back in late November.

His form has also led to his first call up for the Italian Under 21 side. Manager Luigi Di Biagio’s side will play two friendly matches during the international break against Poland and Spain.
