3. By playing to Carroll’s strengths

Andy Carroll is set to return up front alongside Andre Ayew after a two game absence which saw the Hammers draw twice, despite performing well. Chelsea are likely to dominate the ball tonight and West Ham will have to be smart and economical when they are in possession to have any chance of coming out on top. The Hammers must use Carroll’s physicality against Chelsea’s suspect centre backs to their advantage and use the big Geordie as a battering ram at set pieces. Carroll has a great record against the Blues and will be hungry after his lay-off.
