In what seems an unlikely link, Italian website Calciomercato.com are reporting that West Ham have joined the likes of Stoke and Crystal Palace in the chase for Manchester United left back Luke Shaw.

Considering many Hammers fans were surprised that full back Aaron Cresswell was omitted from the latest England squad by Gareth Southgate in favour of Shaw who has hardly played for United this season, it suggests the 21 year old is not high on the wishlist of supporters.

On top of that, West Ham manager Slaven Bilic’s transfer priority for the summer will almost certainly be focused on the other flank, as the club tries to find a quality right back; a position they have struggled to fill this season.

The likes of Cheikhou Kouyate, Sam Byram, Havard Nordtveit, Alvaro Arbeloa and Michail Antonio have all made appearances in the role this season, and the lack of quality in that position will almost certainly be looked at before any move would be considered for someone like Shaw.
