West Ham could make an approach for former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini if they decide to sack Slaven Bilic, according to the Mirror journalist Darren Lewis.

Lewis also revealed last night that the Hammers would be interested in Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez after being beaten to the punch by Real Madrid to land the Spaniard two years ago.

Mancini won the Premier League with City in 2012 before leaving the club in 2013. He has gone on to manage Galatasaray and Inter Milan for a second time since then, but he has been out of work since August after leaving the Serie A side following a dispute with the club’s owners.

The Italian is keen to return to work in the Premier League and has been linked with the West Ham job on two previous occasions; the most recent being before Christmas when Bilic’s job was first on the line after a poor start to his second season in charge of the club.
