West Ham striker Andy Carroll is hoping that team mates Aaron Cresswell and Michail Antonio are included in the England squad for the upcoming matches against Germany and Lithuania.

Carroll himself has been hotly tipped to be called up by manager Gareth Southgate with an injury crisis looming for the England boss in striking positions ahead of the international break.

The 28 year old has said that the England boss has been present at recent West Ham matches, raising hopes of a call up. He is quoted by the Mirror as saying:

“The manager has been to a few of our games and a few of our players have a chance like Cressy and Michail. Hopefully I am one of them.”

Tottenham striker Harry Kane could be sidelined for six weeks with an ankle injury, while Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge are also injured. Carroll’s six goals since returning from a knee injury in December certainly won’t do his chances any harm, although whether he will be joined in the squad by either Antonio or Cresswell remains to be seen.

Despite being top goalscorer for West Ham with nine goals this season, Gareth Southgate omitted Antonio from his last national squad in November for the matches against Scotland and Spain.
