West Ham United are one of a number of clubs that are looking at signing Napoli forward Dries Mertens, according to Het Nieuwsblad. The Belgian newspaper says that the Hammers, Crystal Palace and Newcastle could all make summer offers for the 29 year old.

The Belgian international switched to playing as a striker midway through this season, after playing the majority of his career as a winger, and the move has certainly paid off.

In all competitions this season, Mertens has hit the back of the net 24 times, and provided 11 assists. He is however in a middle of a contract dispute with Napoli owner Aurelio Di Laurentiis which could lead to him leaving Serie A in the summer.

Nieuwsblad report that as Mertens will have just one year left on his contract in the summer, the player will fall into the price range of clubs like West Ham and Palace, but they also say that there is strong interest from the Chinese Super League, as well as clubs in Spain and Italy.
