West Ham winger Sofiane Feghouli has stated he is happy to stay at the club after establishing himself in the first team over the last few months at the Hammers.

The Algerian international struggled for game time earlier in the season, and missed out on a place at the African Cup of Nations because of his lack of matches, but the 27 year old has turned things around after starting West Ham’s last eight matches. He told EFE that he wants to remain in London:

“In the first part of the season I did not have many opportunities to play, but now, as soon as I have had them, I have taken advantage of them and I have won my position.”

“I am very happy, enjoying this league and I want to continue here. It’s a new and very positive experience after six years in Valencia. I’m happy here in London, although it’s colder and rainier than in Spain!”

Feghouli’s joined from Valencia in the summer on a free transfer. He started both ties in the Europa League third qualifying round against NK Domzale back in August but a hamstring injury hampered his early season form.

Lacking games, speculation grew about his future at the London Stadium and he was heavily linked with a move to Italian club Roma in the January transfer window, with the Serie A side’s manager Luciano Spalletti even publicly stating his club’s interest in the winger.
