Mark Noble has made over 350 appearances for West Ham since he first came through as a talented 17-year-old in 2004.

The Canning Town native was unlucky not to earn his first England call up last season after a stunning campaign in claret and blue which saw him notch seven league goals.

But the Hammers captain has suffered a noticeable downturn in form this season, and his mistake to gift Chelsea’s Eden Hazard the opening goal in West Ham’s 2-1 defeat on Monday night has only made things worse.

The mistake did not go unnoticed and fans across social media have called on Slaven Bilic to drop Noble to the bench against Bournemouth and replace him with makeshift right-back Cheikhou Kouyate.

The 29-year-old still has gas left in the tank but has struggled to exert himself on London Stadium’s large pitch, and looks in need of a good rest.

Although it isn’t yet time to replace Noble, West Ham will eventually have to start thinking about a successor who can emulate his passion and presence at the heart of the Hammers midfield.
