West Ham and three other clubs were interested in signing Inter Milan centre back Yao Eloge Koffi on loan, according to FCInterNews.it.

As well as the Hammers, Serie A sides Palermo and Crotone, and French Ligue One outfit Bastia, were all said to be tracking the Ivory Coast defender

It is reported that Inter wanted any loan move to be in view to a permanent deal, and this may have put off potential suitors. Bastia were believed to be the club closest to agreeing a deal for Yao after offering a €2million loan fee but they were unwilling to have a purchase option included in the transfer.

Yao has not made an appearance for Inter this season after being loaned to Crotone on a season long loan last campaign. He helped the Italian club gain promotion to Serie A last season, but he will now remain on the sidelines at the Giuseppe Meazza until the end of the campaign when he will have one year left on his contract.
