Andy Carroll is injured again.
The 28-year-old Geordie hasn’t trained for 10 days since he picked up a groin injury in West Ham’s 2-2 draw with West Brom recently.
But what first appeared to be nothing more than a knock has now escalated into a relatively substantial lay-off that has seen the player sidelined for over a fortnight.
It’s a familiar story for Hammers fans who have become all too accustomed with news of a ‘knock’ to Andy Carroll mysteriously developing into something far more substantial.
It’s a big shame that often-injured Carroll is on the treatment table again given his incredible form this season which has seen him score four in his last four matches.
Carroll is undoubtedly a massive asset to the West Ham squad due to the unique strengths he offers, but with his wages sitting somewhere north of £80,000 a week, West Ham’s owners must be at least a little tempted to entertain offers for the target man.
