With West Ham knocked out of the Europa League, FA Cup and Capital One Cup already, the board are now inventing competitions to keep up.

The club are offering fans who bring flags to Saturday’s home game against West Brom the chance to experience a special meeting with the squad.

The club say that they are introducing the initiative to make the London Stadium a ‘a claret and blue fortress’.

Hammers who bring flags to the ground for our clash against the Baggies will enter a draw with the prize being a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experience with the players at West Ham’s training ground in Rush Green.

Fans who bring flags are asked to Tweet the club’s official account a picture of their flag at the West Brom game using the hashtag #WestHamFlags.

Two winners will be announced – one for smaller flags under 2m x 2m in size, and one winner for larger flags  – with the club looking out for ‘creative and inventive’ banners.

Presumably creative doesn’t involve bringing a Spurs flag to the ground, but given that a steward got away with wearing a Chelsea jacket at London Stadium recently it would come as no surprise.

A competition for kids will also be running – with young Hammers fans asked to submit drawn designs for a West Ham flag to the club via email at competition@westhamunited.co.uk.

The club say that all these competitions are part of the West Ham board’s ‘ongoing commitment to improving the matchday experience and ensuring supporters feel at home at London Stadium’.
