West Ham left back Aaron Cresswell has called upon the Hammers faithful to voice their support loud and clear during Saturday’s home clash against West Brom.

The Liverpudlian feels that the players’ performances are elevated when West Ham’s crowd create a noisy atmosphere and believes the recent upturn in the Hammers’ form can in part be credited to the atmosphere both at home and on the road. He told the club’s official website:

We hope we can close the gap with a victory on Saturday. We have had a few good results this season when the crowd have really got behind us. It certainly helps when the crowd are behind you and it helps in our performance.

We spoke about the great support from the fans after the game on Saturday and at times it felt like we were the home side. It can make a big difference and the fans were behind us for the whole 90 minutes. We hope we can keep giving them something to shout about. The atmosphere in the recent game against Crystal Palace was unbelievable and if we can replicate that every week it will be fantastic.

West Ham currently sit at 9th place in the Premier League table with 31 points from 24 matches, well clear of the relegation zone which they flirted with only a few months ago.

Six wins in the club’s last nine league games have finally given supporters something to shout about, but recent defeats to Manchester City and Manchester United at London Stadium stand in stark contrast to last season’s home form.

Slaven Bilic will be hoping that the Hammers faithful are as vocal on Saturday as were against Palace recently to help his players defeat a confident West Brom side.
