Big softie Slaven Bilic proved his microphone-battering days are firmly behind him with a classy gesture to a young West Ham fan yesterday.

While driving out of the training ground yesterday evening, Bilic stopped to talk to little Hammer Alf, who was waiting outside with his dad to get a picture with his favourite player – Andy Carroll. Alf was disappointed to learn that the big Geordie would be staying late at Rush Green to work on his fitness.

Instead of driving home, Bilic stopped and offered to take Alf and his dad inside the Hammers’ training ground to meet Carroll and pose for pictures. Dad Matt Hill revealed Bilic’s classy act in a post on Facebook. He wrote:

“Slaven Bilic, what a man! We took Alf down to the training ground today to try and meet some of the players.

“We saw them all and was just waiting for Andy Carroll when Slav then came out in his car to go home.

“He told us Carroll would be a while as he was doing some fitness work, so he took Alf in the car back into the training ground to meet Andy Carroll!

“What an absolute star, Slav, you made his life! I hope he gets to see this post as I couldn’t say thank you enough at the time.”

He added in a Twitter post to David Gold: “What a man you have in charge. His act of kindness should be recognised for what he did for my son yesterday.”

No one, not even the #SlavenOut crowd can deny that this club’s manager absolutely oozes class.

How can you not love this man…
