Red Bull’s head of global football operations Oliver Mintzlaff has denied that the soft drinks company have made any bid for West Ham United.

A report in the Sun last month claimed that a £200million bid was being looked at by the Austrian multinational but the story was categorically denied by Hammers’ owners. Mintzlaff told Kicker that he would have known about it if any offer was being considered:

“I should really know about this in my function [as global head of football] because I’d be actively involved in it. But I am not involved. Thus, I can completely rule it out. We continue to focus on our investments at our current clubs.”

Red Bull currently run four different clubs in four different leagues. In their native Austria, they own Red Bull Salzburg, in Germany they have invested in Bundesliga high flyers RB Leipzig, they own a small club side in Brazil called Red Bull Brasil, and they also own a MLS franchise in New York Red Bulls.

Jack Sullivan, the son of co-owner David Sullivan, has admitted recently that the club was subject to a £650m takeover bid in August but the offer was turned down.
