RB Leipzig have joined West Ham in the race to sign Brentford striker Scott Hogan, according to Sky Sports. The Bundesliga side, who have been playing above all expectations in their first season in the top flight in Germany, already have a track record of signing young talent from the Championship.

Promising winger Oliver Burke joined Leipzig in the summer from Nottingham Forest for a club record £13million, and they may have to break that fee when bidding for Hogan as the Bees value the player at £15m, sources close to Sky Sports say.

The Englishman only joined Brentford in 2014 for just £750,000 from Rochdale but missed 18 months at the start of his time at the club with an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury.

His form in the Championship this season has been excellent with 14 goals in 26 appearances, leading to the interest from West Ham who are seeking a striker to shore up their attacking options.
