West Ham have placed a £35million valuation on Dimitri Payet but they are preparing for a renewed offer from Marseille, the Evening Standard reports. There is still a sizeable gap between the two clubs on how highly they value the player, the paper states.

Marseille’s last bid of £26.5million was turned down by the Hammers but they are willing to test the resolve of the London club with another offer for the 29 year old. Whether a compromise can be reached it remains to be seen.

Payet has not played for West Ham since the 5-0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup on the 6th January. He has told the club he does not wish the play, and has been training with the side’s Under 23 team.

The Mirror have reported that Ligue One leaders Nice could be interested in a loan deal for Payet. They say the Hammers would be keen as it would allow Payet to return home and also offload his sizeable wages. It could be that if Marseille withdraw their interest then Nice could be an alternative option.
