West Ham and Crystal Palace will up their interest in Fiorentina striker Khouma Babacar in the January transfer window, according to the La Nazione newspaper (via Firenzeviola.it).

The Senegalese Under 20 international has been a bit part player under Viola manager Paulo Sousa this season, but he has still scored seven goals in 13 matches for the Serie A club.

The 23 year old has been linked with a large number of top European clubs over the past year but it now looks to be the case that the two London clubs will battle it out next month for the forward’s signature.

The Hammers are seeking to offload both Simone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri when the window opens in a couple of weeks time. Calleri could be set to join Sevilla on loan whilst Zaza is expected to join Valencia once West Ham send the player back to Juventus. The Italian international has failed to score a goal for the Hammers in 11 appearances.
