West Ham have “officially asked” about the availability of Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini, according to Sky Sport Italia transfer “expert” Gianluca Di Marzio.

Gabbiadini looks set to be replaced at the San Paolo by Leanardo Pavoletti, Di Marzio believes, as the Serie A club seek a different backup player for first choice forward Arkadiusz Milik.

The Italian journalist also revealed that Gabbiadini has official interest from six different clubs. In addition to West Ham, fellow Premier League club Stoke City have made an enquiry about the 25 year old, while two clubs in Germany Schalke and Wolfsburg, and two Ligue One sides Lyon and Marseille have said they also are prepared to make an offer.

The amount of clubs looking at Gabbiadini is surprising considering his current form. He has scored just two goals in 16 appearances this season despite being given more starts because of a long term injury to Polish international Milik. He was substituted before the hour mark after starting against Benfica in the Champions League last night.
