West Ham have beaten Tottenham to the signing of Wolfsburg midfielder Murat Saglam, according to the Sun. The Turkish youngster’s contract expires at the end of the season and the Hammers are believed to have agreed a five year deal to bring the player to the London Stadium.

The 18 year old was born in Germany but has Turkish ancestry, and has already made three appearances for Turkey’s Under 19 side. His performances at international level brought him to the attention of Hammers boss Slaven Bilic, who has continued to keep track of upcoming young talent in the country after his spell managing Besiktas.

Although ostensibly an attacking midfield player, Saglam has also played on the right wing at youth level for both club and country. He has yet to play for Wolfsburg’s first team though and has been playing for their Under 19 side this season, making 13 appearances, scoring three goals and providing five assists.
