West Ham striker Diafra Sakho could be in line for a significant pay rise if he performs well after returning from injury, reports the Sun.

The Senegaelese international has not featured for the Hammers this season as he has been suffering from an ongoing back problem. The injury actually cost him a £15million move to West Bromwich Albion in the summer after he failed a medical, but despite being on the verge of leaving the club only a few months ago, a West Ham source told the Sun that Sakho could in fact be offered a salary increase on his current £27,000 a week wages.

West Ham co-owner David Gold revealed on his Twitter account earlier in the week that along with Andy Carroll and Arthur Masuaku, Sakho is expected to return to full fitness after the international break to face Tottenham. Considering the lack of goals from forward areas, Slaven Bilic will no doubt be pleased to have Sakho back in contention for the matches as he looks to arrest a poor start to the season.

Sakho’s record for West Ham is pretty decent. In his first season for the Hammers he scored 10 goals in 23 appearances, but his goal return diminished last campaign with just 5 in 21 games although a hamstring injury did curtail his season significantly.
