West Ham are interested in signing Sassuolo forward Gregoire Defrel, according to tuttomercatoweb.com. The Frenchman has been in excellent form this season for the Italian club with nine goals in 18 matches in all competitions.

In an intriguing twist though, the Italian website also report that Defrel is interesting Napoli. Maurizio Sarri’s side are also believed to be targeting West Ham’s Simone Zaza.

Defrel has been valued at 18million euros or £16million so any move for the 25 year old may be predicated on West Ham offloading Zaza before the Hammers trigger the permanent signing of the 25 year old.

The Italian international is currently on loan from Juventus but will have a £17million move finalised if he makes 14 appearances for West Ham, according to Juve chief executive Giuseppe Marotta. The striker has currently played nine matches without scoring a goal, but was benched for the Hammers’ 1-1 draw against Stoke City at the weekend.
