West Ham have made a loan bid for Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier, according to Canal+ (via talkSPORT). Italian clubs Fiorentina and Roma have also reportedly offered to take the Frenchman on a temporary basis.
The 25 year old has had a troubled couple of seasons with injuries, and after missing the first half of last campaign with a femoral fracture, he injured his shinbone in September which kept him out for couple of months, although he had failed to make the starting eleven for the first three matches of the season.
So far this campaign, he has managed just four appearances and has failed to start a single game. He didn’t even make the squad for the match against Lille a couple of weeks ago but he returned to the bench for Lyon’s 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.
There is no doubt that Grenier is a talented player but with the player lacking match fitness and match sharpness, it would be a risk for Slaven Bilic if he were to take the Frenchman on loan in January.
