West Ham United attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzini has spoken out about the special relationship he has with fellow creative talent Dimitri Payet.

The Argentine star has been on the sidelines with injury so far this season but is pushing his way back to fitness and first-team consideration.

Lanzini was a surprise star for the Hammers last season while on loan from the Al Jazira Club, before the London club made a quick approach to ensure the South American was signed on a permanent basis.

The 23-year-old has stated that he enjoys playing alongside Payet and is looking forward to terrorising Premier League defences when the pair are reunited in Slaven Bilic’s starting XI.

“Dimi and I get on very well. He has a great personality,” Lanzini told the club’s official website.

“He’s a great player and when I’m on the pitch, I always try to link up with him because I know he’s the player who can make the difference and can play that pass which means the rest of us enjoy ourselves.

“It went quite well for us last year and we hope to continue in that vein so that we give the West Ham fans many more happy moments.”

Lanzini was selected for the Argentina squad to feature in the Olympic Games this summer, where he picked up his injury.

The former River Plate man’s return to availability will give Bilic an extra option in attacking midfield and bolster the West Ham team.
