A few days ago it seemed that we were edging our way to another summer transfer, as fans believed that we had agreed a fee for Carlos Bacca and were just putting finishing touches to the deal. Many people on Twitter believed that there would be an announcement on Monday regarding the forward, but with Gokhan Tore’s announcement, any movement in the Bacca deal has yet to appear.

However, this is no bad thing.

There have been reports that the deal is off, as Bacca doesn’t want to join.

But these have been from unknown sources, which means that there is a very good chance that the deal is still being worked out.

There is no rush, we have six weeks left in the transfer window, and a deal for Bacca needs to be carefully considered before we complete it. We need a striker that wants to play for the shirt and the club, that knows what West Ham means to us fans. Lacazette and Batshuayi weren’t those players, so it takes time to assess whether Carlos Bacca is the main man to lead us next season.

Gold and Sullivan will also use the time to bargain a deal. Sullivan is very tactical when it comes to transfers, and will ensure that we get the best deal possible for the player. These things take time to put together.

With ExWhuEmployee stating that there is good news on the transfer front, as well as claiming that we are in talks with Bacca in his column on West Ham Way, there seems to be no reason for the deal to be rushed through.

The Bacca deal may have slowed down more than fans would have liked, but this can only be a good thing as the negotiations need to work out best for the club.
