West Ham remain in the hunt for Germany striker Mario Gomez as they go head to head with Besiktas to conclude a deal worth as little as £4 million, according to reports.

Fiorentina have no plans to keep the German international and it is widely expected that Gomez will make a decision on his future after Euro 2016.

With two goals so far in the European championships, including a clever pass to set up Mesut Ozil’s goal last night against Italy, Gomez has caught the attention of the Hammers as they look for a new striker for next season.

The £4 million asking price could rule out Besiktas as they have to adhere to the restrictions of the financial fair play league. West Ham are in a position to spend and a minimal transfer fee for an experienced goalscorer could be too good an opportunity to miss.

It looks as if the Hammers are going to miss out on Michy Batshuayi after Chelsea swooped to sign the talented Belgian. Yesterday, Lyon owner Jean-Michel Aulas stated that the French club will keep hold of Alexandre Lacazette so that potential option is also doubtful for the Hammers.

Christian Benteke is attracting the interest of Crystal Palace whilst Wilfried Bony is rumoured to have been offered to Everton as Manchester City try and sign John Stones.

Robin van Persie is a surprise name linked with the club but it seems unlikely that the Hammers would offer big wages for an injury-prone forward.
