David Gold has confirmed that West Ham have signed Gokhan Tore on a 1 year loan deal, with the option to buy him at the end of the season.

The loan to buy option had been revealed in the past week, but it could have more implications for the rest of our transfer dealings this summer.

It could work out for West Ham, depending on how Tore performs. If Tore plays well and we decide we want to sign him, then it means there shouldn’t be too many issues. However, if Tore plays out of his skin and his transfer value rises, don’t be surprised to see another team (probably Tottenham) come in for him. Alderweireld had a similar deal with Southampton from Atletico Madrid, but ended up joining Spurs instead controversially.

The loan fee is rumoured to be around £5 million, with the option to buy being around £13-14 million.

The loan deal suggests concerns about how Tore settles into the Premier League next season, but it gives him the chance to impress in an area where we could use extra depth.

What does this mean for the rest of the transfer window?

Not spending £13 million on Tore straight away means that we now have extra funds to buy another player in the next 6 weeks.

If the Bacca deal goes through, it would be for less than we bid for Batshuayi/Lacazette which would also free up extra funds.

Gold and Sullivan look to be saving some cash to further improve the squad, with links to Ben Yedder amongst others this week.

This means that even if we sign Carlos Bacca, our transfer dealings are far from over for the summer. Expect more arrivals, and hopefully someone will come in at right back soon. Bilic has denied that we need anyone, but after Tomkins left we are very short on cover for that area if Byram gets injured. We all know that Antonio shouldn’t be playing there, so that should be an area that is addressed as soon as possible.

Another deal complete means that we have signed Nordtveit, Feghouli and Tore with Bacca hopefully being announced soonish. That is a great start to the summer window, and if we can get Payet to stay it could be a huge season for the club.
