When the opportunity to play Premier league football came Darren Randolph’s way in the latter half of last season, he didn’t disappoint.
West Ham are in a very fortunate position when it comes to the goalkeeping situation. Both Adrian and Randolph are good goalkeepers that deserve to be playing regular top flight football. But who is better?
This is a question that will be going through Slaven Bilic’s head this summer. Adrian has been West Ham’s number one for a number of seasons now but the challenge posed by Darren Randolph could result in the Croatian giving the Ireland international a shot at nabbing the number one jersey.
Clearly, there will be supporters that favour one goalkeeper over the other and since this country likes a good vote, we decided to pose the question to fans on twitter.
In a poll that recorded nearly 1000 votes, Adrian came out on top with a 76% majority. Quite a convincing win considering the form of Darren Randolph.
Hopefully the Hammers can keep both goalkeepers happy next season. If Randolph does stay as second choice, a European campaign alongside domestic cup competitions could be enough to keep the Irishman satisfied with his role at the club.
Whatever decision Bilic makes, it is always healthy to have competition for places in the squad. If the Hammers can have issues like this all over the pitch next season, there is no doubt that West Ham will be a very difficult side to beat.
Time to divide a fan base…
