West Ham United are not giving up easily on Alexandre Lacazette.

The lethal French forward has been top of the Hammers’ wish list this summer and there are now reports that West Ham have offered £32 million for the striker, a fee that would smash the Hammers’ current transfer record of £15 million for Andy Carroll.

There is a 30th June deadline for a club to move for Lacazette as Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulus has confirmed that he will not sell the striker after that date. Paris Saint Germain are set to be exploring other options as they seek a replacement for the departing Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The big advantage for West Ham is that clubs will be preoccupied with Euro 2016 and if a striker produces in the tournament, it may aid West Ham’s pursuit of Lacazette as a result. The Hammers are looking to do their transfer business early and offering a sum of £32 million at this stage is something the Lyon owners will find hard to reject.

Whether rival clubs table a higher offer for Lacazette in the next two weeks remains to be seen. The real positive is that David Sullivan has shown his intent by chasing the club’s top targets by tabling a very serious offer indeed. There may be a lot of interest in the French forward but it will have to be serious interest for a club to topple the rumoured £32 million offer from West Ham.

Lacazette does prefer a move to the Premier League and a chance to link up with Dimitri Payet could be a major factor in the striker’s decision to move to the Premier League.

There will still be plenty of twists and turns in the Hammers’ pursuit for a top striker but the rumoured improved bid could be a massive step in the right direction in the chase for Lacazette.
