West Ham United have tabled a bid for Turkish international Serdar Aziz, according to reports in Turkey.

The Bursaspor centre-back, who is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the Turkish Super Lig, has attracted the interest of Slaven Bilic due to his excellent performances so far this season.

DHA report that the Hammers have made an offer for the centre-back and are waiting to hear a response from Bursaspor.

The defender is currently valued at £3.75m on Transfermarkt and his current deal runs until June 2018. Aziz, who has scored two goals this season, can also play in the right-back position which is something that appeals to Bilic due to the problems West Ham have had in this position in recent matches.

Bilic’s former club Besiktas are also said to be interested in Aziz but the lure of the Premier League is something that could sway the defender’s thinking.

With nine international caps for Turkey, Aziz is expected to be the first choice centre-back for the tournament but it looks as if the Hammers want to sign the player before the Euros kick off in June.

Here’s a comparison (below) with current first choice centre-backs Winston Reid and Angelo Ogbonna. Obviously, the gulf in class between the Premier League and the Turkish Super Lig is something that has to be noted but Aziz’s stats are impressive nonetheless.
