According to the London Evening Standard, Middlesbrough are lining up an ambitious move for West Ham winger Michail Antonio.
The report claims that the Teeside club have identified Antonio as a top target and are willing to offer £8 million for the midfielder’s services.
The 26-year-old has been a key figure for West Ham this season, offering an attacking threat in both the right-back and right-midfield positions.
Antonio only joined the club last year for a fee of £7 million and it would hardly be a surprise if the club valued him at over double that figure now. He has been one of West Ham’s most reliable performers so far this season and it looks as if he will play a big part in Slaven Bilic’s plans for the next campaign.
The report does claim that the Hammers are not keen to sell one of their best players as the club have reiterated the fact that they are not looking to offload their most talented individuals this summer.
Although the rumoured offer is an ambitious move from the newly promoted side, it is surely one that is destined to fail.
