West Ham United have ended their interest in Argentine striker Jonathan Calleri according to The Daily Star, with the hotshot forward’s unavailability for the start of the new campaign killing the potential for a deal.

The Hammers have been touted as potential suitors of the Boca Juniors forward, who has been impressing during a loan spell with Brazilian club Sao Paulo.

With Slaven Bilic’s men looking to reinforce their forward line ahead of a move to the Olympic Stadium, Calleri was being touted as a Carlos Tevez type transfer for the London club.

However, with Calleri named in Argentina’s squad for the Olympics, the Boca forward will only become available for an English employer one week before the start of the new Premier League campaign.

With Bilic and his side looking to hit the ground running in 2016-17, this late availability is said to have killed a deal for the Argentine, with the Hammers to look to other targets.
