Former West Ham United striker Paulo Di Canio has recommended Matt Ritchie to the Hammers, according to Claret and Hugh.

Slaven Bilic’s men are in the market to reinforce ahead of a move to the Olympic Stadium and are being linked with new players thick and fast.

Bournemouth have confirmed that West Ham have made a double bid for Callum Wilson and Ritchie, but the Cherries have refused the offer, believed to be £25 million.

Scotland international Ritchie has been a creative force at the Vitality Stadium in recent years and looks at home in the Premier League.

Di Canio knows the gifted attacker well from their mutual time together at Swindon Town and is believed to have put in a good word for the winger to his former employers.

Bournemouth are keen to hold onto Ritchie but an improved offer for the Scot could well convince Eddie Howe’s men to part company with the star.
