West Ham chairman David Gold has eased the supporters’ worries by stating there is no way Michail Antonio will leave the club this summer.

The progressive winger starred for the Hammers in his first season with the club, filling in at right-back for prolonged periods.

Talk in the press earlier in the week stated that newly promoted Middlesbrough were readying an audacious £8 million bid for Antonio as they look to strengthen ahead of a return to the Premier League.

The former Nottingham Forest star, who has been tipped by some to get an England look in after Euro 2016, would be an excellent signing for the Teesiders and offer firepower to assist in their bid to stay in the top flight.

However, Gold has taken to Twitter to confirm that Antonio would not be leaving the Hammers this summer and that Boro could ‘dream on’ in their approach for the star.

Antonio is expected to be used in a more orthodox winger position next season as West Ham look to sign at least one new right-back over the course of the summer.
