Dimitri Payet has revealed his favourite free-kick of the season in an interview with the club’s official website.

The playmaker has been the centre of attention for much of the season and a lot of that centres around his remarkable technique from dead ball situations.

The Frenchman has already scored five free-kicks for club and country this season and the most recent strike against Crystal Palace at the weekend may just be the pick of the bunch.

Although all his efforts from set pieces in 2015/16 have been spectacular, the 29-year-old has picked out his favourite.

Speaking to whufc.com, the Frenchman highlights his goal for France as his finest strike this season:

“My favourite goal would have to be for France against Russia as it was particularly special because it was my birthday and it was also the furthest out on the pitch.

“The trajectory of the ball was similar to the one I scored against Manchester United and I think it was a beautiful goal.”

Fellow Hammers teammate Michail Antonio recently revealed that his French teammate rarely practises free-kicks and Payet confirmed that in his latest interview:

“I worked very hard on taking them earlier in the season up until the Bournemouth game when I scored.

“Since that game I have not been practising as I have been happy with the way I am hitting the ball so I am carrying on with that technique and now I just take a few before each game when I am warming up.”

Clearly this sort of approach is working for Payet and if he continues to produce the goods in such a ruthless manner the fans will continue to idolise him.

Here’s all five of his free-kick goals this season. Which one’s best?
