West Ham have finalised the free transfer acquisition of Borussia Monchengladbach enforcer Havard Nordtveit according to HITC, with the 25-year-old thought to have signed a pre-contract agreement with the English side.
The Hammers are expected to bolster their playing squad over the summer ahead of a move to the Olympic Stadium, with midfield one area of focus.
It is believed that Alex Song will be sent back to Barcelona and not be offered a permanent deal by the London club, with a replacement in the boiler room needed as a result.
Nordtveit spent three years on Arsenal’s books between 2007 and 2010 but did not make a first-team Premier League appearance, instead being farmed out on loan.
A permanent move took him to Monchengladbach at the end of 2010, where he has been a critical member of the Borussia Park side that has continually over-achieved in the Bundesliga.
The versatile defensive midfielder has experience of playing in the Champions League and can boast 27 international caps for Norway.
