After his exceptional performance against Norwich City, many Hammers fans rightly called for Mark Noble to be finally given a chance to represent England at senior level.
The 28-year-old has been in fine form this season and has been one of the fundamental reasons behind West Ham’s excellent position in the Premier League so far.
So when Roy Hodgson appeared on BBC’s Match of the Day this weekend, many Hammers fans were ready to hear his views on Mark Noble’s chances on representing England this Summer in the Euros. Unfortunately, the England manager’s response was far from convincing:
“It is good to see Mark Noble and Danny Drinkwater doing so well,” said the 68-year-old.
“We are pretty happy with our midfield, but it is nice to have extra competition.
“We can never close the door. Mark is a very good character, as is Danny Drinkwater I believe.”
This prompted a huge reaction from Hammers fans. Some of the best reactions from Twitter are listed below:

Hodgson is a joke. Shearer asks if Noble might get in squad and he talks about Drinkwater, lack of respect.#NobleForEngland

Roy Hodgson’s comments when asked about Mark Noble last night were the ultimate cop out. How can he say he’s happy with his midfield?

Hodgson can’t claim any CDM is in better form than Noble or Drinkwater this season. Henderson has barely played, Milner has been average.

Let’s settle this…
Should Mark Noble get an England cap?— Spencer FC (@SpencerOwen) February 14, 2016
Dele Alli is the only English midfielder in better form than Mark Noble at the moment.

The sad thing is I don’t think anyone would be more passionate and committed to England than Mark Noble. Easily good enough right now.
