Dimitri Payet is close to signing a new deal at West Ham according to Slaven Bilic.
There has been a real frenzy of speculation surrounding the Frenchman’s future despite the midfielder stating his commitment to the Club only a matter of days ago.
Despite the rumours, Hammers manager Slaven Bilic has now provided fans with an update on the deal, stating that negotiations have progressed well and a deal is close to being completed:
“I think we are very close to Dimitri signing a new contract,” Bilic told the press.
“Both parties have the same intention and that is to stay at West Ham, and I hope it is going to be done.
“Of course if you are playing like he is playing many clubs are showing interest, but we will do everything we can to keep him with us.
“Yes every player has a price, but the good thing is that he is happy, we are more than happy with him.
“I hope and think will stay with us for a long, long time.”
This is fantastic news for West Ham fans as Payet has been a key figure for West Ham all season. He was influential on Tuesday night, providing an inch-perfect delivery for Angelo Ogbonna to head home in the final minute of extra time against Liverpool.
Bilic did not say exactly when the deal will be completed but it now looks as if the Hammers will keep hold of their star man beyond this season.
