West Ham face a tough fixture against Spurs in North London on Sunday. Spurs are on a decent unbeaten run and with some of the additions they have made in the summer, they look a decent side.

West Ham will come up against a confident and defensively solid team; hopefully it will make for a fiery London derby. West Ham will want to take the encouraging performance against Everton and translate that into a win against Spurs.

With the likes of Kane, Alli and Eriksen all in form, it will be difficult to break them down whilst also defending against them. In previous years I would be slightly more optimistic because Tottenham’s defence hasn’t been particularly consistent.

However, with the signing of Alderweireld, Tottenham look more defensively secure. Although a positive for Slaven Bilic and the team is that Sakho should be fit to return to the starting eleven. With Andy Carroll’s recent lacklustre performances, hopefully Sakho can continue to work hard and be clinical with his chances.

Further good news for the hammers comes in the form of Cameroonian midfielder, Alex Song. Song may not be fully match fit however it is likely that he will feature in the game.

The team will be different without Dimitri Payet, however Lanzini will now be given a chance to play in the number 10 role. In a more central role, Lanzini will hopefully put in even better performances and assist West Ham to a win against an assured Spurs team.

With the likely return of Alex Song, the holding midfielder should provide some of the creativity we will miss from Payet. The former Barcelona player could be crucial in helping the team to get anything from the London derby on Sunday.

Ultimately, West Ham did beat Spurs at White Hart Lane 2 seasons ago 3-0 without a striker, so there is hope! Although, on this occasion and based on current form I think West Ham will be happy with a draw.

Without Payet the team will lack a bit of flare and creativity, but if Lanzini and Song play well I would not count us out for adding Spurs to the list of teams we have beaten away from home. Overall, I think it will be a tight game and it could be one goal which decides the game, let’s hope that West Ham score that goal and we return to winning ways.
