Alex Song is set to play for West Ham before the end of the month as he targets a return to first team action against Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail.

The midfielder’s move to the Hammers was delayed until deadline day as the Club were worried about the severity of Song’s injury. Although it has taken some time for Song to get back to fitness, he should be ready to return for his second loan spell at West Ham after the international break.

The away trip to Crystal Palace may be a little too soon for the Cameroonian but he could make the squad for the home encounter against Chelsea on the 24th October.

Enner Valencia is another player that has spent a fair amount of time on the sidelines due to injury but it now looks as if the Ecuador striker will be training with the first team in the next few weeks.

Valencia has been out injured since the beginning of August

According to London 24, the striker will look to build up his fitness during the international break in a bid to be ready for action by the end of October.

With both Song and Valencia returning to the first team, West Ham will have even more strength in depth throughout the squad. It will be interesting to see how Valencia will slot into the team as his pace and power is something that will appeal to Bilic’s style of play.

In Alex Song, there is a player possessing undoubted quality and the Hammers could be in need of some extra creativity in the middle of the park in order to support Dimitri Payet.

Who do we need more, Song or Valencia?
