Ravel MorrisonRavel Morrison joined West Ham United in January of 2012 after what was already a troubled start to his career at Manchester United. Dubbed by Sir Alex Ferguson as “the best player he had seen at that age” when he signed for Manchester United, big things were expected of him. Three-years after moving to east London and things have only got worse for the troubled youngster.

When he first signed for West Ham, everyone knew it was a risk. A risk that could have huge rewards, but a risk nonetheless. Last season there were glimpses of brilliance, his goal of the season at White Hart Lane for example, but amongst it all was continuing madness.

Morrison is no stranger to being arrested or facing court charges, the latest of which have been dropped against him. It is not my place to discuss legal matters and if he is guilty or not, but it does become an issue with the fans when this affects his performances on the pitch. After all, he can’t score and create goals for West Ham from behind bars.

The nature of his behaviour is one that sadly doesn’t seem to be able to change. For a while it looked as though Allardyce had managed to curb Morrison’s wild side, but it wasn’t to last. Morrison has spent most of his time at West Ham on loan to other clubs. He has had some successful times at these clubs but sooner or later something has gone wrong meaning that his loan deals have been terminated. Recently his loan at Cardiff ended prematurely and since then his liking of Lukaku’s Instagram post of his equalising goal in the first FA Cup tie has shown that even his recent dealings to do with solely football haven’t been without controversial incidents.

Morrison’s time at West Ham may be about to be cut short, with rumours of contract terminations, further loan deals and potential for a move to Lazio. I for one will be sad to see his talent go further to waste, but won’t be disappointed for him to no longer be our responsibility. He has had many chances to prove himself and seems to want to cause trouble. Maybe it’s time that he wasn’t our problem anymore.
