Sam AllardyceOne sublime Diafra Sakho finish doesn’t make a summer, but there are sure signs supporters are emerging from a winter of discontent.

After much angst around Sam Allardyce’s style of play, recent results have helped contribute to a more favourable feeling around the club.

Many rightly have been quick to praise the players for the style of play against Hull City, and the devastating show of flare and efficiency against Liverpool .

But to dismiss the manager’s input would be short-sighted and somewhat puerile given the freedom with which certain sections have held Allardyce responsible for the poor performances and dismal results.

Yes, his hand may have been forced in terms of transfers and tactics, but it is down to him to now implement a formula that satisfies the masses and secures the points.

Whilst it is still early days, the indication is the new players are settling well, the team is working together, and the manager is enjoying his football.

Allardyce has proven that given time, he can build a squad capable of turning heads, and the Liverpool result has certainly did that.

His clear delight at the win, and the manner with which the side went about it, was received warmly by fans and pundits alike.

The celebrations seen on Saturday are a far cry from the boos following the infamous victory against Hull last season, and that can only be seen as progress.

A similar series of results over the next month will bring the boss back on side with more supporters, and afford him a greater level of respect.

It could take a whole season for people to truly believe the team has moved into a new era under a previously maligned manager. But if they have truly witnessed a new dawn, it will be hard for most not to spring to his defence when the determined detractors speak up.

Do you really think anything would have changed had Nolan and Carroll not got injured and the board hadn’t sanctioned and probably forced through a series of exciting purchases who play with pace, skill and movement ??? Allardyce knew full well, just as we all did, that his job was on the line and things had to change…credit needs to go to US the unhappy band of loyal fans who have pleaded with the club to make changes in both personnel and playing style. The set up, being played to great effect now, was the one most of us had wanted for seasons…better late than never, eh!
