Enner ValenciaWho are ya?

The star of Ecuadorian football at the World Cup, and it is not the Valencia you would expect, not Antonio of Manchester United but Enner of Pachuca in the Mexican League. The 5ft8 forward has leaped onto the scene in Brazil scoring three goals in Group E, including a brace in their win again Honduras.

Born in San Lorenzo, the forward has scored seven goals in 13 appearances for his native Ecuador including a pile driver against England in a pre World Cup friendly. His form at the World Cup has sparked interest from Sam Allardyce and West Ham.

The 25-year-old started his career at Emelec, where at a young age he found first team opportunities limited before bursting on the scene with the winner against Ecuadorian champions LDU Quito. He went on to score 27 goals in 124 appearances.

He joined Mexican side Pachuca in 2014 for an undisclosed fee, where he went on to enjoy a much more prolific campaign netting 18 goals in 23 appearance. Form that he has carried into the World Cup where he scored three in three.

Big Sam, Spend some money!

Whilst the Hammers have only made prior enquires for the forward, it is expected that the Mexican club will try to make the most of their prized asset. A fee of around £7million has been bounded around with the in form man turning heads in the Premier League and beyond.

Sam Allardyce will see Enner as an understudy to Andy Carroll and will not want to spend the earth on Valencia, so will look to bargain basement the signing of the Ecuadorian forward. The forward is said to be interested in a move to the Premier League so it could play into the hands of Big Sam should he press forward in his pursuit of the exciting forward.

Believability factor

This rumour is one of the more believable than most, the Hammers love to sign a player based on form after a major tournament. You only have to look at Carlos Tevez in 2006 and Pablo Barrera in 2010. Could Enner be the next on the list? With 3 in 3 he ticks all the boxes.

Sam Allardyce has confirmed that he is on the look out for a new forward to partner or be back-up to Andy Carroll and Enner could be that man, with a relatively cheap fee possible he could be very appealing to David Gold and David Sullivan.

Game changer?

The forward, who can act as a winger, looks like a great talent, and his speed and creative could be just what the Hammers are missing. Having impressed at the World Cup, his finishing and composure are just what is needed at West Ham. Although it is expected that he would be second-choice to Andy Carroll and impressive pre season should he join could force him into the first team.

The San Lorenzo born man could also play as part of a front two should the Irons need it chasing the game, his pace and clever mind would mean he could link up perfectly with the target man in Carroll. He would fit in perfectly with Big Sam’s new attacking mentality, and should appeal to both Big Sam and Gold and Sullivan.

Come on you Irons!
