West Ham return to the dark days of Avram Grant

West BromWe’ve now suffered four defeats on the spin for the first time since the dark old days of Avram Grant. We didn’t expect much change out Liverpool and Arsenal; however you’d have thought Sam Allardyce’s gang could’ve scraped together some points out of Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion.

Once we fall behind this season that’s pretty much it as far as the game is concerned; we’ve only claimed a measly FOUR points all season from losing positions; so when Saido Berahino put the Baggies 1-0 up there was an inevitability of yet another gutless, spineless and spiritless defeat.

Think back to the 3-3 draws West Brom have endured lately where Cardiff City and Tottenham Hotspur managed to score deep into injury time to scramble a point out of the Hawthorns; the Albion defence have proved time and time again that they’re prone to creaking, and yet in the 2nd half apart from Andy Carroll’s header which hit the bar it was all too easy for Pepe Mel’s side; a side which had only kept three clean sheets at home all season.

Its been said by everyone fan and pundit alike and lord knows I’m getting tired of writing it but…this West Ham side has no cutting edge whatsoever; not since the win over Sunderland at the end of March have we even notched more than one goal in a game; it must be comforting for the opposition to know only a solitary strike will be required to slay this Hammers side.

We are so one dimensional, so predictable and so easy to defend against.

It is worth remembering that this is only our 2nd season back amongst the elite…however we currently sit further down the league than newly promoted Hull City and Crystal Palace and the side that we came up with Southampton have acquired 15 more points and play a far more aesthetically pleasing game.

If we end the season with six defeats on the spin; it’s difficult to see how Sam could keep his job, with that in mind the game against Spurs at Upton Park next Saturday lunchtime couldn’t be any bigger for Allardicci’s reign.

I simply cannot see Sam in charge next season as fan unrest regarding his management has reached fever pitch, a win over Spurs might just (for a week anyway) abate the fury of supporters who will never accept or embrace him.

We will just about survive; but major changes will be needed in the summer if we are to avoid another season of constantly peeking over our collective shoulder, as for Allardyce…I simply cannot see him surviving the inevitable cull.

If not Sam then who? Someone must be able to transform this ragbag set up of ours. teams like Southampton & Everton win games mainly because of the confidence & speed of attack from their centre midfield. Look at ours – plod, plod, plod……

What we are witnessing is the “West Ham way”. It isnt just the style of football it is everything about the club. We could easily have wrapped this season up over the past couple of games even a couple of draws would have been enough but in true West Ham style we didnt.Much like the recent cup final melt down and needing to beat Man U at old trafford on the last day of the season. I believe we will win one of the remaining two games and be safe this year but i do believe it is time for the change that will be needed in the near future. I think Sam has done a good job until now and turning on him seems a bit harsh but cannot see how he would ever win the majority of the fans back.Cupping his ears and blatant disrespect of the heritage of our club was a bad management move. With the olympic move happening soon now has to be the time for change of management. Changing managers and stadium in the same season would be asking for trouble as hammers we know it wouldnt go smoothly.Changing managers in the few seasons after the move could also be risky meaning we could be stuck with BS. It is always a gamble to change manager but in this case it is a gamble to keep him.
Time to aim for the stars get us the manager to take us to our new home playing tasty football

Yes, I agree Chegs. With losing game 36 at West Brom, West Ham have now lost 19 games this season, SO FAR! This now equals what Avram Grant achieved in the 2010/11 season when West Ham lost 19 games & were relegated after just 7 wins, 12 Draws & sustaining 19 losses. The only thing that is keeping West Ham from relegation in this 2013/14 season is the winning run that West Ham went on when they won all 4 games in February making manager Sam Allardyce the manager of the month, as well as winning 10 games to date. The 7 draws gained are also 5 less than what Avram Grant achieved. The other thing that is redeeming & disguising a shockingly bad season under Sam Allardyce is the fact that the performances of the 6 other teams that are below West Ham, are so bad this season, that West Ham are 5 points above the relegation margin of 32 pts, with a goal difference better of between 21 – 31 than the bottom 3, so even if West Ham lose both of their remaining 2 games, then the 18th placed team, being Norwich would have to win both of their last 2 games being at Chelsea on Saturday & at home to Arsenal on the last day of the season, but 17th placed Sunderland would only need to win 2 out of its last 3 games to go above West Ham. I am sorry Sam Allardyce but that is not a very good reference to continue on as West Ham’s manager, plus as a spectacle, the West Ham performances under your guidance are shocking, frustrating & depressing to watch, as well watching a West Ham team feebly falling over the line, & hopefully, which is more than you deserve, to finish just above the relegation margin. This is what you have reduced our club to!

When the manager responded to the post match interviewer after the game v Hull in regards West Ham fans booing him (not the team). His response was like, well he’s quite used to it from everywhere he’s managed a club, whether it was Bolton, Blackburn or Newcastle, they all booed him, let alone West Ham. I wonder why??? There is a familiar pattern here wherever you take your sh*te football eh SA? West Ham may even lose all of their last 6 games. BFS has the hide of a Rhinoceros!
