West Ham ace set for new bumper contract

Winston ReidWinston Reid is apparently set to commit his future to West Ham United, with the defender set to join Andy Carroll at the top of our high earners list.

For me, this is brilliant news. Forgetting about his somewhat er… shaky performance against Stoke City, Reid is exactly the type of player we want to be keeping. With the big guns now sniffing around him and his current contract up next summer, this is a great statement of intent from the club.

James Collins may not have too much time left at the top as he is getting on a bit now, and I think James Tomkins and Reid have a brilliant understanding and will soon return to their successful partnership. With Tomkins at 24 and signed up until 2016, Reid extending his deal would be the icing on the cake.

For me, the wage amount isn’t undeserved either. Reid is a natural leader and the other players clearly respect him. He is a solid defender and if we want to cement our place in the Premier League and move up the table, players like him will be key to our success.

Do you think Reid deserves to be joint top earner? Leave a comment or tweet me at @alwaysintune.

Worth every penny, so glad to see him rewarded by the club, since 85/86our defence hs been less than solid, yes we’ve had some quality defenders at Upton Park but in fairness to Sam, its only been since he came in that we look stronger as a unit, that said, should have played collins at stoke and let winston come on in the 2nd half. Regardless, great news. COYI

errrrr, shouldn’t we make sure he gets his form back 1st, as before he came back West Ham went through a run of 4 clean sheets, winning 4 straight & unbeaten in 5, then Hippo head just couldn’t resist bringing his darling AC & this one back, changing a winning team, resulting in us losing 2 on the trot. Think before you continue throwing fans hard earned gate receipts way West Ham, resulting in us being forced to sell our beloved home. What’s the use, the club don’t/haven’t ever listened to us anyway, especially these new owners, it’s just pay your money for season tickets & shut up. Yeah, someone mentioned a wages cap of 10 grand a week, geez I wouldn’t mind 10 grand a week, let all the Prem’s players get no more than 10 grand a week, end of story!!!

In reply to Jonny , he will get his form back no problem, but dither over new contracts at your peril these days .If we don’t nail him down he’ll be gone!

I reckon we’ll agree a contract no bother. We just need to get this season done at the same time. We should be OK, as With Fulham having such a bad goal difference & being 7 points below West Ham, then I can’t see Fulham winning 3 more games than West Ham in only 8 games they have left as opposed to West ham’s 9 games left.
Cardiff would have to win 2 more games than WH + draw 1 more from 1 game less, left. I can’t see that happening either. That leaves 6 other teams who are below West Ham on points & goal difference. Swansea have a better goal difference by 1 goal, have played the same amount of games as West Ham & are only 2 points below, so just 1 more win than the Hammers would take them above & into 12th leaving West Ham on 13th. Sunderland have played 2 games less, but are 6 points below, so even if Sunderland win their 2 games in hand that they have over West Ham, then only 1 more win or draw would take them into 13th & leave West Ham on 14th. Norwich have 1 less game remaining than West Ham & are 2 points below, so they would need to win 2 more games because of West Ham’s game in hand, so I can’t see West Ham finishing below Norwich. Hull have played the same amount of games as West Ham, so just 1 more win or draw than West ham could move Hull into 14th, leaving West Ham 15th. There’s an outside chance that West Brom & Crystal Palace, who have both played the same amount of games as West Ham, could both or just 1 of them win 1 more + 1 more draw than West Ham, putting West Ham in 16th or 17th, but I can’t see West Ham finishing lower than 16th or 17th at the lowest, so that is the worst that I reckon West Ham can do, but then again we could finish 10th again. I reckon West Ham can out do Fulham, Cardiff, Palace & Norwich, finishing 16th at the very least. It sounds like Winston is happy with the Hammers, so yeah, here’s looking to a better future for us COYI!

If we don’t sign him up the vultures will be circling he is good enough to play for one of the top clubs.if we get him on a long contract and the big teams offer silly money then everyone wins.top player who has improved massively under Sam.BTW Avram signed him so was not all bad

To Any True Hammers Fan this is great news !

He is a fantastic player & has made our defence solid. I don’t think you can blame him for our last two loses either .

Lets not forget we still lost them games with AC back in the team too.

If we are to move forward as a club then we have to stop selling our best players , also the move to the OS is vital .

We need to be able to compete with the top teams & not better them. We also need a bigger stadium and more investment in the club. We will be a very sought after club in the next few years and also debt free .

What is there not to like about that.
